Chapter One of Caring for K.I.A. (Kids Impacted by Addiction) is the first release of Kia Delaney’s forthcoming memoir.
Written to reach both youth and the adults who support them, this chapter offers an honest, compassionate look at what it means to grow up impacted by addiction and instability, and how those experiences shape behavior, identity, and emotional safety.
Through storytelling and reflection, Kia Delaney creates space for:

This chapter does not offer quick fixes or clinical language. Instead, it invites readers to see the story beneath the surface and understand the importance of safety, voice, and connection in healing and growth.
Grounded in Delaney’s Resilience Rewind Framework the Five Guideposts of Resilience Story, Safety, Voice, Connection, and Rewritten Story. The opening chapter lays the foundation for a larger body of work still in progress.
